Crowns

This play captures a piece of the African American experience that I had not seen during my time at the University of Michigan. This show gives the opportunity to discuss race, heritage, and religion from a different perspective than a lot of theatergoers are used to experiencing. Having the chance to let an African American story be told by a cast of African American artists who under normal circumstances at this University, would never know what it’s like to be the majority in the room, has been extremely rewarding. Being able to share the gift of this culture from our perspective could open a door to endless possibilities for artistic representation for all unheard voices across this University. Every voice, person, and story deserves to be heard. Make sure that you do not allow your story to go unseen.
